So Brighthouse Cable collectively decided to be an enormous douchebag. At my current apartment, I was signed up for the Digital cable combo pack + HD service, an HD DVR, and regular cable internet. I was going to transfer my service to the new apartment.
The new apartment complex informed me that they were paying for the Standard cable, which is like 12 bucks. I thought "sweet, my bill will be lower." However comma, by paying for my standard cable, I was no longer getting the "combo pack," and was basically paying for each service a la cart, which resulted in a higher bill. I called and told them "screw that, I dont want any TV service except for what the apartment is paying for, and I'll just pay for internet." The switchover is scheduled to happen today, between 6 and 8 pm.
However, last night, a day before the cable at my current residence was supposed to be turned off, I was greeted with a "server not reachable" error message when I tried to get on the interwebs. I turned on the TV, and all I got was a big grey screen.
So now I'm cancelling all of my Brighthouse services (except for what the apartment is paying for), and subscribing to any DSL service I can find in the area.
I am Consumer; hear me RAWR!
