Up In the Air: 5/5, very good and timely movie. Also includes a well placed Elliott Smith song

tanker tuesday: The Book of Eli
Somehow going to see Avatar at the imax turned into seeing Leap Year.
1.2/5. Really bad movie. I only give it 1.2 stars because some dude with a crazy hat kept walking back and forth in front of me and at first I thought he was in the movie.

He had a stroke after that commercial started airing. Coincidence? But yes, it's an awesome commercial. That's how it's done!
First music I ever owned was a charlie daniels tape.

probably won't make it. sorry.
The Book of Eli - The tension and bleakness is great. You might think that it would be way over the top, but you still feel like it could be a real place/scenario. Would have liked if the scope of the movie was a little wider. SPOILERS COMING UP WHY ARE YOU STILL READING MICHAEL I'M TALKING TO YOU: With a wider scope I think they could have explored the implications of the biblical message in a post apocalyptic world. They introduce the idea that it may have started the whole thing, but never resolve the issue. Was Eli just on a quest to catalog it? Did he need only to keep it out of the hands of the bad guys? Or was the actual message of the bible going to affect how things turned out? Maybe there's some symbology in the movie that might help explain it. Did anybody ever watch the anime Evangelion? Michael, I know you did. They used a lot of judeo-christian symbolism, but it had very little bearing on the story. Once I found out it wasn't really relevant to the story, it felt like a distraction. Whatever. Statement from me after seeing the film: "I feel like my life could use a lot more piety and badassery"
